· Ziang Xie

In brief

The developer, Ziang Xie, collects no data through Passim. There are no app accounts, developer-operated servers, ads, analytics or crash-reporting SDKs, or cross-app tracking.

Passim processes your health data on your device and does not upload it. Apple services, system backups, and files you choose to share are explained below.

Apple Health on iPhone and iPad

With your permission, Passim reads workouts, GPS workout routes, and heart rate recorded during workouts. It uses them on your device to draw routes, calculate statistics, and color routes by heart rate zone. It never writes to Apple Health.

Passim displays its local cache first, then checks for changes. While running, it listens for changes to workouts and routes and refreshes the local cache. Passim never uses HealthKit data for advertising or provides it to third parties. You control any files you export.

Local storage and device backups

Passim stores its workout and route cache and imported routes in its private app storage. On iPhone and iPad, system file protection restricts access to these files while the device is locked.

Passim marks route databases for exclusion from device backups. The system decides what it includes, so exclusion cannot be guaranteed. Passport holder details, derived passport analysis (including simplified route previews), and settings may be included in system backups, such as an iCloud or computer backup. Passim does not sync its app data through iCloud.

Photos and saving posters

You can choose a photo for your passport. Passim stores the cropped photo on your device.

Passim adds a poster to your photo library only when you choose to save it there. On iPhone and iPad, the app’s save button requests separate add-only permission.

Passport details

A selected and cropped profile photo or a built-in animal avatar, your name, handwritten signature, passport number and observations are used to personalize the passport. Passim generates the number randomly on your device without linking it to your identity.

These details are stored in the app on your device. Passim does not send them to the developer. The backup rules above apply.

Apple Maps and offline place identification

Apple provides the basemap through MapKit. Your device requests map data from Apple when it loads the map. These services are covered by Apple’s Privacy Policy.

Passim identifies countries, regions and cities from workout routes using its bundled offline data. That lookup happens on your device.

Passim Pro purchases

Apple handles monthly and annual subscriptions and the one-time lifetime purchase through the App Store and StoreKit 2. Passim uses verified purchase status on the device to unlock Pro. Apple handles your payment and Apple Account details, which the developer does not receive. Passim has no purchase server.

Files you export or share

Route files you export or AirDrop to a Mac contain workout times and precise GPS tracks, and may include heart rate and elevation when available. Shared posters are PNG images that may visibly reveal the route and workout details. The Hide Start & End option trims 200 metres from each end of the route on a workout poster.

You choose where these files go. Passim does not send a copy to the developer. Share them only with people and devices you trust.

Passim on Mac

Passim on Mac does not connect to Apple Health. It displays routes imported from an iPhone snapshot or GPX files. Imported data is stored and processed locally on that Mac, subject to the same backup and sharing considerations above.

Deleting data and changing permissions

On iPhone or iPad, choose Delete App to remove Passim’s local app data. On Mac, quit Passim and remove its app data container in Finder under ~/Library/Containers/ as well as the app. Original Apple Health records, photos and files you saved or exported separately remain where they are.

To revoke Health access, open Settings → Health → Data Access & Devices on iOS 17, or Settings → Apps → Health → Data Access & Devices on iOS 18 and later. Select Passim and turn off its access. You can also go to Health → profile → Apps under Privacy. To change photo access, go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Photos → Passim.

Children

Passim does not collect personal data from children or target children for data collection.
